NATURAL STONE TILE

Natural stone tile is always in style. We travel the world over to bring you the most luxurious, irresistible, and affordable collections on the market – including Italian marble, Brazilian slate, and Indian quartzite.

Marble

Marble is a metamorphic rock, capable of taking polish, and it is the impurities that give it its character, and beauty. Marble is typically a light colored stone, the fewer the impurities, the whiter the stone. Silica, iron oxides, clay and graphite provide the color and rich veining while calcite crystal is the base of a true marble. Marble deposits can be hundreds of feet thick, and some high producing quarries, produce over a million tons per year.

Marble comes in a wide array of colors including pink, yellow, blue, gray, and even black; the impurities don’t make marble unattractive, they make it more beautiful. Today, marble is quarried from all over the world including Greece, Ireland, the U.K., throughout the United States, Russia, Romania and Sweden, but the top producers of true marble include Italy, China, India and Spain.

Marble can be quarried in a parallel or perpendicular direction to the bedding plane. A perpendicular cut is referred to as a “vein cut” or an “across the bed” cut. The parallel cut is referred to as a “cross cut” or a “with the bed” cut. Vein cut slabs show the veins of the stone running lengthwise, or vertically, while the cross cut slab shows the cross section of the veins, typically creating a far more dramatic pattern.

Travertine Tile

Travertine tiles are a popular flooring choice as they remain one of the most durable stone floor tile options on the market. With their comfortable and neutral color tones, travertine’s roughhewn look adds texture and a striking appeal to any floor space. Ease of installation and upkeep makes this tile flooring option widely in demand. MSI offers this premium surface in over 35 color options. Every block of Travertine stone is unique in color and density. There can be 3-4 shade of colors from one block. Block cutting will result into Travertine tiles which have mixed color and quality. Each tile is inspected and sorted based on background colors, movement and density of stone.

Quartzite Tile

Quartzite is a very hard metamorphic rock that originated as sandstone. Through a process of high heating and pressurization, sandstone is transformed into Quartzite which is an extremely hard and durable natural stone. Quartzite tiles often have a wondrous sparkling texture as individual quartz pieces recrystallize in high heat. Its incredible strength makes it ideal for flooring applications. Quartzite tiles is easy to maintain and are an environmentally conscious flooring option. MSI offers this premium surface material in a variety of color options.

Slate Tile and Flooring

The vibrant colors and unique texture makes slate tile an exceptional interior flooring alternative. Slate is formed of compressed layers of sediments formed under the ocean. Its tough composition makes it resistant to fading, scratches, and even chemicals. Although it needs to be sealed regularly, slate tiles last virtually forever with a little maintenance. With over 25 color options to choose from, slate tile can make a wonderful addition to any room, even those in colder climates.

Granite Tile and Flooring

Granite is an igneous rock formed from volcanic activity. Granite tile remains a popular flooring choice because of its overall resiliency, strength, and number of unique color options. Our premium surface granite tile selection offers over 50 color patterns. We have the perfect granite tile for every flooring project, whether it is for residential or commercial use.

Limestone Tile and Flooring

Formed by settled sedimentary rocks pressurizing at the bottom of the sea, limestone becomes a strong and solid surface: ideal as flooring material. The muted tones of limestone tiles give any space a clean and comfortable feel. Generally found in soft beiges and tans, limestone tiles offer an informal, relaxed feel. This premium flooring option comes in over 30 color tones.

Onyx Tile and Flooring

Onyx, a form of quartz, is one of the more popular precious gemstone materials. Onyx has naturally beautiful translucence and line of contrasting colors running throughout which defines the unique color characteristics of the stone. Onyx colors are soft, opulent, and almost fragile in nature. Onyx tile is truly a premium surface material. Onyx tiles require some care, but with a little maintenance you can keep them looking brand new for years. If you are looking for something distinctive, consider onyx tile for your flooring surfaces. We offer a small variety of inimitable color options.
